The Master Electrician exam is a TDLR license exam given by PSI. TDLR approves your application first, then you schedule with PSI and have one year from the application date to pass. - The PSI exam has two portions: 75 NEC knowledge items in 150 minutes and 33 calculation items in 170 minutes. - The exam fee is $78 for both portions and the TDLR application fee is $45. - TDLR licenses Texas electricians, and PSI gives every exam with a 70 percent passing score on each portion. - Since September 1, 2026, the exams are written to the 2026 National Electrical Code, the edition Texas adopted on July 28, 2026. - The exams are open book: bring a soft-bound NEC, highlighted and noted before the exam, with only the publisher's permanent index tabs. Homemade and other tabs are not allowed. - Licenses renew every year with 4 hours of continuing education covering the NEC, Texas electrician law and rules, and NFPA 70E. ## Other Master Electrician options [**Study Guide and Flash Cards** 2026 Texas Master Electrician Exam Prep and Study Guide + Fl… $99.95](https://passyourtexascontractorexam.com/master-electrician/study-guide-flash-cards-2026/) · [**Study Guide** Texas 2023 Master Electrician Exam Prep and Study Guide: 12 … $59.95](https://passyourtexascontractorexam.com/master-electrician/study-guide-2023/) · [**Study Guide** Texas 2026 Master Electrician Exam Prep and Study Guide: 12 … $59.95](https://passyourtexascontractorexam.com/master-electrician/study-guide-2026/) · [**Study Guide + NEC with Tabs** Texas 2020 Master Electrician Study Guide & National Electri… $240](https://passyourtexascontractorexam.com/master-electrician/study-guide-nec-tabs-2020/) · [**Study Guide + NEC with Tabs** Texas 2023 Master Electrician Study Guide & National Electri… $240](https://passyourtexascontractorexam.com/master-electrician/study-guide-nec-tabs-2023-2/) · [**Study Guide + NEC with Tabs** 2023 Texas Master Electrician Study Guide & National Electri… $249.95](https://passyourtexascontractorexam.com/master-electrician/study-guide-nec-tabs-2023/) · [**Study Guide + NEC with Tabs** 2026 Texas Master Electrician Study Guide & National Electri… $249.95](https://passyourtexascontractorexam.com/master-electrician/study-guide-nec-tabs-2026/) · [**Study Guide + Calculations + NEC** 2023 Texas Master Electrician + Electrician Calculations Stu… $279.95](https://passyourtexascontractorexam.com/master-electrician/study-guide-calculations-nec-2023/) [Compare every Master Electrician package →](https://passyourtexascontractorexam.com/master-electrician/) [Choose a different license →](https://passyourtexascontractorexam.com/) ### More texas electrician licenses [Journeyman Electrician](https://passyourtexascontractorexam.com/journeyman-electrician/) · [Master Electrician and Electrical Contractor](https://passyourtexascontractorexam.com/master-electrician-contractor/) · [Residential Wireman](https://passyourtexascontractorexam.com/residential-wireman/) · [Maintenance Electrician](https://passyourtexascontractorexam.com/maintenance-electrician/) · [Journeyman Sign Electrician](https://passyourtexascontractorexam.com/journeyman-sign-electrician/) · [Texas exam FAQ](https://passyourtexascontractorexam.com/faq/) · [Study tips](https://passyourtexascontractorexam.com/blog/) ## Questions before you buy ### How much is the Texas 2020 Master Electrician Exam Prep Package? $240 to $770 depending on the option you pick.
