The Journeyman Electrician exam is a TDLR license exam given by PSI. TDLR approves your application first, then you schedule with PSI and have one year from the application date to pass. - The PSI exam has two portions: 59 NEC knowledge items in 130 minutes and 26 calculation items in 110 minutes. - The exam fee is $78 for both portions and the TDLR application fee is $30. - TDLR licenses Texas electricians, and PSI gives every exam with a 70 percent passing score on each portion. - Since September 1, 2026, the exams are written to the 2026 National Electrical Code, the edition Texas adopted on July 28, 2026. - The exams are open book: bring a soft-bound NEC, highlighted and noted before the exam, with only the publisher's permanent index tabs. Homemade and other tabs are not allowed. - Licenses renew every year with 4 hours of continuing education covering the NEC, Texas electrician law and rules, and NFPA 70E. ## Other Journeyman Electrician options [**Online Exam Prep Course** Texas Journeyman Electrician - Online Exam Prep $295](https://passyourtexascontractorexam.com/journeyman-electrician/online-course/) · [**Study Guide and Flash Cards** 2026 Texas Journeyman Electrician Exam Prep and Study Guide … $99.95](https://passyourtexascontractorexam.com/journeyman-electrician/study-guide-flash-cards-2026/) · [**Study Guide** Texas 2023 Journeyman Electrician Exam Prep and Study Guide:… $59.95](https://passyourtexascontractorexam.com/journeyman-electrician/study-guide-2023/) · [**Study Guide** Texas 2026 Journeyman Electrician Exam Prep and Study Guide:… $59.95](https://passyourtexascontractorexam.com/journeyman-electrician/study-guide-2026/) · [**Book Package** Texas Journeyman Electrician Book Package $165](https://passyourtexascontractorexam.com/journeyman-electrician/book-package/) · [**Study Guide + NEC with Tabs** Texas 2023 Journeyman Electrician Study Guide & National Ele… $240](https://passyourtexascontractorexam.com/journeyman-electrician/study-guide-nec-tabs-2023-2/) · [**Study Guide + NEC with Tabs** 2023 Texas Journeyman Electrician Study Guide & National Ele… $249.95](https://passyourtexascontractorexam.com/journeyman-electrician/study-guide-nec-tabs-2023/) · [**Study Guide + NEC with Tabs** 2026 Texas Journeyman Electrician Study Guide & National Ele… $249.95](https://passyourtexascontractorexam.com/journeyman-electrician/study-guide-nec-tabs-2026/) [Compare every Journeyman Electrician package →](https://passyourtexascontractorexam.com/journeyman-electrician/) [Choose a different license →](https://passyourtexascontractorexam.com/) ### More texas electrician licenses [Master Electrician](https://passyourtexascontractorexam.com/master-electrician/) · [Master Electrician and Electrical Contractor](https://passyourtexascontractorexam.com/master-electrician-contractor/) · [Residential Wireman](https://passyourtexascontractorexam.com/residential-wireman/) · [Maintenance Electrician](https://passyourtexascontractorexam.com/maintenance-electrician/) · [Journeyman Sign Electrician](https://passyourtexascontractorexam.com/journeyman-sign-electrician/) · [Texas exam FAQ](https://passyourtexascontractorexam.com/faq/) · [Study tips](https://passyourtexascontractorexam.com/blog/) ## Questions before you buy ### How much is the 2026 Texas Journeyman Electrician Exam Prep Study Guides & Code Book Ultimate Co? $399.95 to $499.95 depending on the option you pick.
