The Code Enforcement Officer exam is set by a Texas city or by TDLR rather than by a statewide contractor board. The city or agency approves you, then the exam is scheduled with ICC or PSI. - The PSI exam has 70 scored items in 105 minutes, costs $50 and is closed book. - Registration costs $100 and lasts 2 years, with 12 hours of continuing education before each renewal. - Texas does not license general contractors at the state level; the Texas Residential Construction Commission was abolished in 2009. - Cities set their own registration rules, and some, such as San Antonio, require an ICC exam for certain trades. - San Antonio sign operators need a passing ICC exam, a $45,000 bond and $1,000,000 in general liability insurance. - Texas code enforcement officers register with TDLR after the TEEX course and a closed-book PSI exam that costs $50. ## Other Code Enforcement Officer options No other option is listed for this license yet.
